Dr. Kasia Kania, the region’s first and only breast microsurgeon specializing in advanced breast reconstruction, will host BRA Day event in Northwest Arkansas.
SPRINGDALE, Ark. — For Dr. Kasia Kania, plastic surgery is more than a procedure. It’s a partnership that helps women reclaim confidence and wholeness after breast cancer.

Kania, founder of ARBRA Plastic Surgery, is both the first and only breast microsurgeon to bring advanced breast reconstruction to Northwest Arkansas. A fellowship-trained reconstructive microsurgeon from MD Anderson Cancer Center, she and her team are currently seeing patients at Highlands Oncology in Springdale, where they provide complex microsurgical breast reconstruction procedures—including DIEP, PAP, and TUG flaps and lymph node transfers—for patients navigating life during and after cancer treatment. These advanced microsurgical techniques require additional specialized training, and surgeons with a microsurgical fellowship are uniquely qualified to perform them with a high degree of precision and safety.
“As women face one of the most difficult diagnoses of their lives, they deserve more than surgery. They deserve someone walking alongside them from the first conversation to the final step of recovery,” Kania said. “Supporting patients in their full journey is the heart behind ARBRA Plastic Surgery.”
Kania is recognized nationally for her leadership in the field. In addition to her surgical expertise, she now serves on multiple committees of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, where she advocates for national and local policies that improve access to care for women and families.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to honoring women diagnosed with breast cancer and empowering them with knowledge and support. As part of this observance, National Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day is held annually on the third Wednesday in October—this year, on Oct. 15. The campaign is designed to educate, engage, and empower women to make informed decisions about their care, including breast reconstruction options.
“There is still important work to do in making sure every woman — and her family — knows her choices,” Kania said. “Events like BRA Day allow us to share information, answer questions, and remind women that they are not alone.”
ARBRA will host a BRA Day event on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at its Highlands Oncology clinic. The event will feature hors d’oeuvres, drinks, giveaways, and educational opportunities for patients and families to learn about the latest in breast reconstruction and support resources.
